Name Number Calculator
What the name you use every day carries.
Your name carries three numbers at once. The Destiny or Expression Number, from every letter, is your natural equipment and how you express yourself in the world. The Soul Urge, from the vowels, is the private wanting underneath your choices. The Dream Number, from the consonants, is the impression you give before you speak.
Numeranks computes all three with the Chaldean system, the older method that assigns letters the values 1 through 8 and holds 9 sacred, reading the name you actually use day to day. Run your official document name separately and compare; a wide gap between the two is itself worth knowing about.
How it works
Each letter takes its Chaldean value (A=1, B=2, C=3 and so on, never 9). The letters are summed into a compound total, then reduced to a single digit, keeping master numbers 11, 22 and 33. The Destiny counts every letter, the Soul Urge only vowels, the Dream Number only consonants.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my name number?
Give each letter its Chaldean value (A=1, B=2, C=3 and so on, with 9 never used), add the values for the whole name, then reduce the total to a single digit unless it is a master number. The calculator does this for you and shows the working letter by letter.
Is this Chaldean or Pythagorean numerology?
Chaldean. It is the older system, where letters run 1 to 8 and 9 is held sacred, and it reads the name you actually go by rather than your legal document name. The Pythagorean method, which uses 1 to 9, is a different school.
Should I use my full name or the name I use every day?
Use the name you are actually known by, since that is the vibration you live with. It is worth running your full document name separately and comparing; a wide gap between the two is itself telling.
What is the difference between the Destiny, Soul Urge and Dream numbers?
The Destiny or Expression Number uses every letter and describes your natural equipment. The Soul Urge uses only the vowels and points to what you privately want. The Dream Number uses only the consonants and describes the impression you give before you speak.
Are master numbers 11, 22 and 33 kept?
Yes. When a total lands on 11, 22 or 33 it is kept as a master number rather than reduced further, and shown with its single-digit root alongside.
